No turning back now on the new Glenunga Hub. It won’t be long (next year) before we have a purpose built sporting and community hub in place of the ageing and outdated buildings in the middle of the Glenunga Ovals. Not just a sporting complex either, but a place for community groups and locals to gather.
Half the building has been set aside for community use. This means a place for painting classes, bridge clubs, yoga groups and others. The outside area will have BBQ’s, an undercover area and a re-built playground. A track around both ovals will be a safe place to walk, run, or teach the children how to ride their bikes. There are even fitness stations on the track.
We have taken down about 23 trees, but did you know that there are 197 trees across both ovals and that the landscape design replaces all removed trees and includes more? The ovals will continue to be open for community use during the building process.
