Electoral cycles

Many elected members constrain their vision within their four year term.  This is not ideal for local councils and here’s an example of good works done across electoral cycles.

During my first term in 2011 we identified that the Conyngham Depot was an underutilized piece of land and we began to investigate options for future use.  No decisions were made.

As part of my second term from 2014 we decided on an option and began planning in conjunction with a great deal of community consultation.   During this term work began on building a Shed to replace the existing Men’s Shed, relocation of the Laurel Avenue bio-diversity nursery and a community garden for local residents.

Just after the start of my third term in 2020, the complex was officially opened.  By 2021 it had won Community Facility of the Year category in the National Awards of Excellence.
